First on our list, and probably the best solution you can find today, is the HAF XB EVO from Cooler Master. Now you may be wondering – this is a case from 2013, how can it still be relevant? Well, the point is, it is. It’s one of the best LAN boxes you’ll find, even after six years since its release, and we’re going to prove it.
The first thing you notice is the multifunctional laptop bag with pen. It’s very portable, but that also means you can use it for just about anything, from building a LAN box to building a home theater or even a dyno if you’re into overclocking.
Then we want to talk about the design. The design is not the best of the best, we admit. But that in itself is not bad. In fact, you might even say it’s not bad. It features two separate compartments, one of which can be used to store the food and also doubles as a storage space. The other, on the other hand, is large enough to accommodate the motherboard, processor, graphics card and other components that can generate heat.
There are two 120mm fans on the front, which you can replace with 140mm fans if you wish. They are located just behind a large mesh grille, and under this grille you will find a pair of USB 3.0 ports, as well as a headphone jack, microphone jack, reset button, and of course a power button.
That’s not all, because there are removable panels on the right and left side where the handles of the box are located. They are durable and reliable and allow you to easily transport your computer. The back of the case, on the other hand, offers multiple ventilation options, space for an input/output panel, and seven expansion slots, which is considerable.
The housing is also very functional and even has a holder for the power supply, which allows it to be slid out of the housing if necessary. At the same time, it can help you manage cables, which is one of the main problems for PC users who have to carry their computers around.
Cable management is not always easy, as you probably know. In most cases this is quite annoying and confusing, but in this case it can be a little less problematic. It is equipped with hooks for easy routing of cables.
The motherboard tray is removable, as is the top of the case, which features a mesh grille and accommodates a 200mm fan. The entire enclosure is made of heavy, thick steel except for the front panel itself. This makes the case rugged and durable and helps protect your PC components during transport.
However, there are a few points to consider regarding compatibility. Especially when it comes to longer components like GPUs. The longest GPU to fit in this case is 334mm. And if you plan to add a liquid cooler, 180mm is the limit. The enclosure is obviously not unusually important, but is still quite effective in terms of cooling. Thanks to two internal chambers, it offers considerable airflow. The design is cubic and you can customize it very well, which makes it overall an excellent solution and we are always very satisfied with it.
Secondly, we have the Silverstone ML08, a great model and a multifunctional laptop bag with handle, and in this respect it is somewhat similar to the Cooler Master model we told you about earlier. In terms of appearance, however, it looks nothing like the Cooler Master model. It looks more like an RVZ02, although with a small profile. This makes it much more compact, and while many will immediately think that this makes it unsuitable for high performance games, nothing could be further from the truth.
The structure of the model is vertical and there is a handle on the top. The design even makes it pretty easy to place it next to the rest of the platform, although you can also lay it flat if you prefer. It’s made of reinforced plastic and steel, though you won’t notice at just 7.5 pounds.
It’s also well ventilated, with plastic dust filters on the right and left sides, and on the top and back. However, it should be noted that these vents are necessary because there is no fan in the housing. On the front of the case are the reset and power buttons, as well as audio jacks and two USB 3.0 ports. There is a motherboard cutout on the back that is perfect for any Mini-ITX model, and there are two expansion slots.
As for the interior, it consists of two parts. In one you can put the graphics card, in the other the rest of the components. As for the length of the graphics card, it easily accommodates a 330mm GPU, which is sufficient. However, a potential problem could be the CPU cooling support, which is quite limited to just 58mm. For the power supply, you can choose between SFX-L and SFX, as both are supported.
However, no tools are required for the drive cage, which should speed up assembly and disassembly. And that’s it. The only real issues with this model are the glaring lack of fans and limited CPU cooler support. We are also very satisfied with this model. It has an excellent tool-less SSD mount, good cable routing, a reasonable price, and dust filters, so we think it’s well worth considering.
The next model is the MasterCase Mc400Mt, a very modern and professional looking model with a stylish front panel. It has tempered glass windows on the sides, which is ideal for those who want to display their installations in full view. In addition, the glass panels are mounted with special anti-fall brackets that ensure the safety of your equipment during transport. The glass itself does not move or shift, which is pretty good for the safety of the device.
At the top of the backrest is a handle that allows you to quickly carry the backrest. There are also special built-in holders for GPUs that support the weight of the GPU. That way, the PCI-E slot it’s in won’t be stressed and it won’t fall out, which would otherwise be more likely in transit.
As you can see, this model does everything to protect your parts at all times and transport them easily and safely without worrying about possible damage. Plus, it uses Cooler Master’s FreeForm modular system, which means that installing or replacing panels is as easy as possible.
The front of the case also features impressive I/O, including three USB 3.0 ports, a USB 3.1 C-type port, and buttons to control RGB and fan speed.
We admit it’s not the most portable option, but it has great air circulation and is very pleasant to look at. It supports most motherboards, including full-size ATXs and some eATXs, and allows you to add many expansion cards, drives and more. It is very customizable, although it is large and a bit heavy.
All in all, it’s a pretty good solution, although too big and heavy for comfort. But there are worse things. That’s why we think it’s important to do thorough research before deciding whether you like it or not.

Then, last of our list, we have the BitFenix Prodigy M, which is the successor to the original Prodigy box, and a version that is easily one of the best for mATX. It is available in different colours and is durable and robust. Steel is not lacking in this case, but there is also plastic, as well as Fyberflex composite feet on the bottom and a handle on the top.
Unlike most cases, the I/O panel is located on the right side and not on the front panel. It has pretty standard audio jacks, a switch, a reset button, and two USB 3.0 ports. As far as cooling goes, the model is quite decent. It comes with a single 120mm fan on the bottom. However, you can also add a fan if you want to improve performance.
However, it is also possible to add a 200mm or even 230mm fan, but to do so you must remove the small 120mm fan that came with the case. There is plenty of room for two additional 120mm fans on top, as well as a pre-installed 120mm fan on the back. However, this can be replaced by a 140mm larger fan. Cooling down. Above the rear fan, there are up to five PCIe slots where you can install a mATX motherboard.
The case also has a single 5.25-inch drive slot, but it’s easily removed. There are also three bays 2.5′ and two bays 3.5′. They can also be plugged into an additional 2.5 reader, so there can be up to five readers in total.
At the end of the day, it’s a pretty good deal; it has some weaknesses that may not be breakthrough factors, but we think you should be aware of them. First, you can’t count on installation without tools. In addition, the handles don’t look very strong. In fact, the opposite is true, and one could even say they look a bit fragile. Another potential problem is that the side panel wiring can be a bit short, so keep that in mind.
But there are some positive aspects that can offset the drawbacks, such as B. support for the dual graphics card and support for a huge 240mm radiator. So the model has its advantages and disadvantages, which means you should think carefully before making a choice.
Finally, we have a Corsair product in the form of the Graphite 380T series mini-ITX case. This is another very practical and efficient model from a company that is widely known for its superior technology and cooling properties. But even then, they apparently didn’t fail.
The design of the 380T is very interesting: The sides and front are made of breathable mesh, which greatly improves air circulation. And not only that: The net also acts as a filter that keeps dust out of your carry-on bag. The air has free passage of course and keeps the cash box cool.
Air circulation and cooling are further enhanced by five fans that can be mounted on the back, front and sides. On the front you can mount one 200 mm fan, one 140 mm fan or two 120 mm fans. The side mounts hold 120mm fans, but you can even fit a 240mm radiator on it if you’re into water cooling.
And, as mentioned earlier, there is also a rear support that can support a 120mm fan. The best part: You can control these fans with the controller on the front of the case and set the cooling to one of three speeds. So you can make it quiet when you need it, or super-efficient but slightly louder when performance is more important.
The rest of the case is also customizable and the entire front panel is easily removed. So you can easily work with this model and organize your components as you wish. The side panels can also be folded down for quick and easy access to all components at any time and from anywhere. In addition, installation of the new units is simple, as removal of the panels allows easy access to the inner metal frame of the enclosure.
Now, despite the mini-ITX form factor, you can easily install a full-size GPU and power supply, which means you can quickly boost performance to the max and make the most of it during LAN parties and other similar occasions.
Overall, we find this case very compact, easy to transport, with exceptional cooling performance and numerous drive compartments, especially considering its small size. Plus, you can always install a full-size power supply and GPU, which means it provides power and efficiency not only in transit, but also in use.

That’s all I’m saying. There aren’t too many different models on our list, but the ones we found satisfactory should be more than capable of serving you well. As always, they all have their strengths and weaknesses, but most are pretty solid and pleasant cases that you might even enjoy carrying.
There is no doubt about their efficiency and if you always need your PC by your side, these are the models you should turn to.
