Older games require certain features that are currently disabled in Windows 10. One of the features required for the CGs is DirectPlay. Make sure this feature is enabled on your computer.

  • In the Windows search box, type Windows Enable features and open Windows Enable or Disable features in the list of results.
  • Downward navigation and expansion Obsolete components.
  • Check the DirectPlay box and confirm the changes.

Use lower resolution

This problem can sometimes occur because your computer’s default resolution is set to a high value that the game cannot support.

  • Right click on the Age of Mythology shortcut on the desktop and open Properties .
  • In the Shortcut tab, find the Target line.
  • Copy the following line to the end of the current entry: xres=640 yres=480
  • Save changes in and Start game .

Use steam version

If the above steps do not solve the problem, then I recommend you to buy the Steam version of the game called Age of Mythology: Expanded Edition. After installation, check if the mythology age problem persists.

Why is the age of Mythology late?

I know a lot of new players who like this feature, but you’re going to slow down the game because the game has more units appearing on the screen at once, and you won’t be able to use the microscope properly because it’s always zooming. And yes, even if you have a good PC, you should not use this feature.
