Google Chrome is currently the most popular browser in the world. The browser holds 64% of the world’s browser market, overtaking second place Safari with just 16% market share. One of the reasons many people prefer chrome is that it is fast. Although it’s a robust browser, there can be occasional problems, which we’ll cover today. In this final part of the series, we will examine the problem of network access authorization by Chrome in firewall or antivirus settings.

Before following the recommended troubleshooting steps for this particular problem, try restarting your computer. This allows you to update the operating system, remove corrupted temporary data and fix most software problems quite effectively.

Several factors can cause this particular problem, from a firewall blocking the browser to interference from anti-virus software. Here are the steps to follow to solve this problem.

Add Chrome to the Windows Firewall exceptions list

The first thing to do in this case is to make sure that the firewall is not blocking Chrome’s connection to the internet.

  • Type Windows Firewall (without quotes) in the search field.
  • In the search results area, select Allow application through Windows Firewall.
  • Tap or press the Change settings button and select Allow another application.
  • Select Google Chrome and select Add.
  • Click OK to complete adding Google Chrome to the Windows Firewall.

Check if the Chrome network access rights error is stored in your firewall or antivirus settings.

Add Google Chrome to antivirus exclusion list

One of the factors that can cause this problem is interference from anti-virus software. If it is the culprit, you can fix the problem by adding chrome to your exclusion list.

Windows Defender

  • Click on the Windows button and type Windows Defender in the search box.
  • Open an application called Windows Defender Security Center.
  • Select the Virus and Threat Protection option.
  • Go to the virus and threat protection settings. Windows may ask you to allow the administrator to use this feature. If yes, click Yes.
  • Look in the window titled Add or Remove Exclusions. Click on it and you will be taken to a menu where you can add exceptions.
  • Select the Exclude folder option and navigate to the Chrome folder. Once there, select the folder and save the changes.

Bit guard

  • Open Bitdefender and navigate to the protection window by clicking on the shield icon shown in the image below.
  • Click on the Show modules link.
  • Click the Settings icon in the top right corner of the scanner.
  • Click on the Exceptions tab in the window.
  • Click on the list of files and folders that are excluded from the scan.
  • Press the ADD. Go to the games directory and select a folder to exclude from the scan. You must also select the Both option before adding an exception.
  • Click the Add button and save your changes.
  • You can also add the game’s executable file to the exclusion list by clicking the Excluded Processes button. In the pop-up window, navigate to the Chrome .exe file located in the main Chrome folder. Select both and save the changes.

AvastAntivirus

  • Open the Avast interface.
  • Press the Settings button in the lower left corner of the screen.
  • Under Settings, go to General and scroll down until you find Exceptions.
  • Expand the section and you will see a dialog box where you can add global exceptions. Navigate to the Chrome folder using the Browse option.
  • After selecting the Chrome folder, click the ADD button at the bottom left of the screen. Click OK and it will be added to Avast Antivirus’ global exceptions.

McAfee Antivirus

  • Open McAfee Antivirus by clicking on its icon on the toolbar in the lower right corner of Windows.
  • Click on Security Management.
  • Select the Schedule and Run Scan option from the Virus and Spyware Protection window.
  • Select the Scan Schedules option from the list of options below. A new window will open where you will see an Add button on the Excluded Files and Folders tab. After clicking Add, use the file explorer to select the Chrome folder.
  • Once there, select the folder and save the changes.

Kaspersky AB

  • Open Kaspersky AV from the system tray icon in the bottom right corner of the screen.
  • Go to the Settings menu.
  • Click the Advanced tab and select the Threats and Exceptions tab from the list of defined options.
  • Click the Configure Exceptions button in the center of the screen.
  • Select the Add option at the bottom right of the screen.
  • Now navigate to the Chrome folder using the Browse button. Once there, select the folder and save the changes.

Malignant charges
