How To Fix Avast Keeps Turning Off Automatically Issue

Avast Antivirus is one of the most popular internet security applications developed by Avast for Microsoft Windows, MacOS, Android and iOS. There is a free and a paid version, both of which work well to protect your computer from online threats. Although it is robust and powerful software, it can sometimes have some problems that we will cover today. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series, we look at Avast’s automatic shutdown.

Restart the computer before performing any of the recommended troubleshooting actions below. This action refreshes the operating system and removes the corrupted temporary data that could be causing the problem.

Avast software update

It is possible that the problem is caused by an outdated version of Avast. If your Windows operating system has just been updated, you should also check if there is a new update available for your antivirus software so that it can work with Windows without any problems.

  • Open the Avast user interface by clicking the icon in the taskbar.
  • Go to the Update tab, where you will find two buttons labeled Update, one of which refers to updating the virus definition database and the other to updating the program itself.
  • Update the database and the program by pressing these two update buttons.

Check that Avast always deactivates itself automatically.

Restart aswbIDSAgentservice

AswbIDSAgent is one of the services Avast uses to protect your computer. Changing some parameters of this service usually solves this problem.

  • Open the Run dialog box by pressing Windows key + R .
  • Type services.msc in the Run dialog box and click OK.
  • Find theservice of aswbIDSAgent, right-click on it and select Properties.
  • If the service is stopped (you can check this next to the service status), you should leave it stopped. If the service is active, press the Stop button and wait for the service to stop before proceeding to the next step.
  • Before you click Start, make sure that the option in section Startup Type of the aswbIDSAgent service properties is set to Automatic.

Check that Avast always deactivates itself automatically.

Avast relocation

If the above steps do not solve the problem, you should consider reinstalling Avast.

  • Click the cog icon in the lower left corner of the Start menu to open the Settings application.
  • Press Apps. It should immediately open a list of all the applications and tools installed on your computer, so wait.
  • Search Avast in Control Panel or Settings and click Edit. Follow all instructions that may appear before the repair.
  • Check if the same problem occurs with Avast Shield.

Avast relocation

  • Windows 10 will now boot into safe mode.
  • Run the uninstaller Avast and locate the folder where you installed Avast. If you installed it in the default folder, you can leave it there.
