Hearthstone is a digital trading card game developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment. It can be downloaded for free and is available for Microsoft Windows, MacOS, iOS and Android platforms. In this reverse card game, two players use their deck of 30 cards to play skills or summon servants to reduce their opponent’s life to zero. Although it is a reliable game, sometimes you may encounter certain problems. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series, we tackle the problem of Hearthstone malfunctioning in Window 10.

What to do if Hearthstone does not start on your computer

Restart the computer before performing any of the recommended troubleshooting actions below. This action refreshes the operating system and removes the corrupted temporary data that could be causing the problem.

Several factors can cause this particular problem, from a corrupt game file to outdated drivers. Below are the recommended troubleshooting steps to follow to resolve this issue.

Core repair

One of the most common problems this can cause is a corrupted game file, so you need to fix the game.

  • Open your Battle.net desktop client.
  • Click on the Hearthstone tab.
  • Open the settings and select Scan and Repair.
  • Wait until the process is complete.
  • Restart the game after the repair.

Try to see if Hearthstone still doesn’t work on Windows 10.

HearthstoneUpdate

You should make sure you are using the latest patch/update in the game to ensure that bugs in older versions are fixed.

  • Download the standalone agent patch files from http://dist.blizzard.com.edgesuite.net/CS/Tools/Standalone/Battle.net-Agent-PC-Standalone.zip.
  • Close all active Blizzard games and startups (including the Battle.net application) and wait at least 30 seconds.
  • Right-click on the taskbar ( ) and call Task Manager( ).
  • Look under processes Agent.exe. If it’s active, stop it.
  • Unzip the individual patch files to : C: ProgramData. Battle.net. To see them, you must enable the Hidden Files and Folders feature.
  • Make sure you want to merge and replace the files.
  • Start Battle.net App or restart the game and try to resolve the issue normally.

Make sure the problem continues to occur on the Windows 10 computer.

Disable Windows antivirus 10

Sometimes anti-virus programs can interfere with a game. To check if this is the cause of the problem, you can try disabling the antivirus program.

If you are using Windowsprotection

  • Select StartupSettings> Update and SecurityWindows SecurityAntivirus and Threat Protection > Control Settings
  • Real-time circuit breaker set to OFF

If you use Avast

  • Locate the Avast icon in your computer’s system tray and right-click on it.
  • Click Avast Control Panels.
  • Look for options to disable the program – the options are to disable the program for 10 minutes, an hour until you restart the computer, or permanently (until you turn it back on yourself). Choose the option that suits you best, and then disable the program.

If you use AVG

  • Find the AVG icon in your computer’s system tray and right-click on it.
  • Click to temporarily disable AVGprotection.
  • Select how long you want AVG to shut down and whether you want AVG to shut down the firewall as well.
  • Press OK to turn off the antivirus program.

If you are using McAfee

  • Locate the McAfee Antivirus icon in your computer’s taskbar and right-click it.
  • Press Output.
  • A dialog box should appear to warn you that McAfee protection will be disabled. Press YES in this dialog box to disable the antivirus program.

If the problem does not occur when virus protection is disabled, add it to the exceptions list.

Disable the streaming option in Blizzard.

One factor that can cause this problem is the built-in streaming feature of the Blizzard application, as it consumes a lot of PC resources. Try disabling this feature and then see if the problem persists.

  • Click the icon in the upper left corner of the Blizzard application and click Settings.
  • Select the Streaming option on the left side of the window and uncheck the Enable Streaming checkbox.
  • Press Done to save the changes and exit.
  • Restart the computer .

Check if there is still an issue with Hearthstone not working on Windows 10.
