Steam is one of the best platforms to get a digital copy of your favorite PC games. Instead of going to the store and buying a physical copy of the game, you can just download it to your computer, which is very convenient for most people. Despite being a stable platform, sometimes problems can occur. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series, we look at the problem of steam not loading the store.

Restart the computer before performing any of the recommended troubleshooting actions below. This action refreshes the operating system and removes the corrupted temporary data that could be causing the problem.

Several factors can cause this problem, ranging from a problem with data in the cache to an issue with the Steam program. Here are the steps you need to take to solve the problem.

Clear HTML cache

If the game browser becomes slower, it probably contains corrupted cache data. One of the quickest ways to solve this problem is to empty your computer’s HTML cache.

  • Get out of the steam basket.
  • Press Win + R . This should cause the Run application to appear.
  • In the dialog box, type control to open the Control Panel.
  • Locate Folder Options in the top right dialog box.
  • Press Map Options.
  • Click the View tab and select the Show hidden files, folders and drivesline. Select this option, apply the changes and close the window.
  • Press Win + R . This should cause the Run application to appear.
  • Type C:UserName>AppData Local . Where <username> is the username of your Windows account.
  • A window appears with all the names of the users who use this computer. Click on the username and continue to search for the folder named AppData. You will see a folder called Local. Find the folder called Steam . You will then see a folder called htmlcache.
  • In the cache folder, select and delete all items.
  • Press Win + R . This should cause the Run application to appear.
  • Type par://flush Configuration
  • Press Ok, and a screen will appear to confirm your action.

Uninstall, then reinstall Par

The final step in fixing the problem if the issue persists is to uninstall and then reinstall Steam.

Save your game

  • Open the Steam PC client by double-clicking on your desktop.
  • Click the Par button in the top right corner of the window and select Settings from the drop-down menu. In the Settings window, go to the Downloads tab and click Steam Library Folder.
  • You should see a full list of all the libraries you are currently using here, as well as the folders to look for when backing up. Since the default folder is C >> Program Files (x86) >> Steam >> steamapps.
  • Go to the above location by clicking to open a folder or file explorer and click on This PC or My Computer in the right pane. Then open the above location and locate the steamapps folder.
  • Right-click on the folder and select Copy from the context menu. Go somewhere outside the Steam folder on your computer and paste the folder by right clicking and selecting Paste. The best place would be your office.
  • Repeat for all folders in the library. After uninstalling Steam, you need to reintegrate the folders as folders in the Steam library, just like the first time.

Uninstalling Steam

  • Log in to your computer with an administrator account.
  • Click the Start button and then the gear icon to open Settings if you are using Windows 10.
  • Click on Apps, which should immediately open a list of all the programs installed on your computer.
  • Find the steam inlet in the list and tap it once. Click the Delete button above the list and confirm the dialog boxes that appear. Follow the on-screen instructions to uninstall Steam, then restart your computer.
  • Open the official Steam website, then download the Steam installer. Follow the Steam installation instructions.
